[BackStage Vibe] Korean indie band LOVE X STEREO (2014.6.16)

There is this great punk rock band from Seoul, Korea called Love X Stereo. We recently had a chance to chat with Annie Ko, the lead vocalist from the band. Read on to see what she had to say!
[Backstage Vibe] Tell us about your band and how you all got started together? [Love X Stereo] We’re Love X Stereo from Seoul, Korea. We’re an electro/alternative rock band. Our music is highly influenced by the 90s. We like to have that 90s feeling into our music, with an electronic flair. We first started in late December of 2011. Originally we were a punk rock band called Skrew Attack, but decided to do something completely new, and that’s how Love X Stereo started.
[Backstage Vibe] Was music always a big part of your lives? [Love X Stereo] Of course! Back in the 90s, with no internet access at all, for kids like us in Korea, it was really hard to find good music in general. So we had to stick to the radio all the time, just to hear a glimpse of pop/rock music from Europe and USA. Because we were so eager to search great music outside of Korea, think that led us to pursue music for ourselves along the way. All of our members started music in younger ages, (Toby started a punk rock band at the age of 18,) so, yes, music was always a big part of our lives.
[Backstage Vibe] What is your favorite part of performing or creating music? [Love X Stereo]Making something new. Cause if you’re just yourself, you’re able to predict exactly what you’re gonna sound like. But in a band, the dynamics are very different from a solo act, and you can never expect what comes next. That’s the most exciting part.
[Backstage Vibe] Please share with us some of the highlights from the past year. [Love X Stereo]We participated CMJ Music Marathon last year, and had our very first North American tour. Such a great experience! Had to drive everywhere with a rental, had so many good and bad episodes, but all in all, met a lot of great people, and had the time of our lives. Early this year, we performed at SXSW, and that was huge! Austin is CRAZY… We just got back from Singapore this week, performed at Music Matters Live. Met a lot of Asian fans for the first time. Had a wonderful time there!
[Backstage Vibe] What are some of the happenings that you are looking forward to in 2014? [Love X Stereo] We’re gonna make cool new music, of course. Trying to produce another EP if possible. And hopefully we can go to our third tour in the US.
[Backstage Vibe] Do you have any fan or gig stories to share with your fans? [Love X Stereo]We met a lot of fans in the States, but we were actually so surprised to see fans who watch EatYourKimchi religiously. We’re good friends with Simon and Martina. So felt really happy to meet new fans that way. YouTube power all over the world! Totally 21st century style…
