About Album

Love wins… #ZeroOne

The collaboration single “Zero One” with Nick Neon, a rising new film director and actor in the U.S.

The first work of Nick Neon, a rising new American filmmaker and actor from New York, “Ultra Bleu (2014 film),” as a poster phrase “We won’t always be 20-something + lost.” As a Korean-American staying in Korea, he received many love calls from the world. The music that appears at the end of the movie is Love X Stereo’s ‘Hide and Seek’, which marks the end of the movie’s overall atmosphere. (Watch the movie at nickyneon.com)

Upon hearing that Zero One, a sequel to Ultra Bleu, is being produced, the members of Love X Stereo shared their thoughts with film director Nick Neon to compose the film’s theme song. This song is “Zero One”.

The movie “Zero One” features a series of happenings that the main character of “Ultra Bleu” goes through when he returns to his home in New York for a while. Like the pain of love experienced by the main character who chose a life that could not be perfect, there’s a family that cannot accept himself as he is, while another family silently watches him. While the main character rises up from the bottom of the vortex, with subtle resonance the lyrics of the last of song comes in. “I’m never giving up.”

The music video, which features major scenes from the movies “Ultra Bleu” and “Zero One,” captures the eye-catching scenery of Seoul and New York. The movie “Zero One” toured film festivals around the world and premiered at the Seattle Film Festival in February.

Available Lyrics

Zero One

Love is dead
It's over
You can't see anything
Love is dead
It's over
You can't feel anything
Love is dead
It's over
You can't hear anything
Love is dead
It's over
You can't feel anything
Although life is breaking us apart
I'm never giving up
Although love is tearing us apart
I'm never giving up

Zero One (Ultra Bleu Remix)

Love is dead
It's over
You can't see anything
Love is dead
It's over
You can't feel anything
Love is dead
It's over
You can't hear anything
Love is dead
It's over
You can't feel anything
Although life is breaking us apart
I'm never giving up
Although love is tearing us apart
I'm never giving up

Album Reviews

Beginning with a cut of Annie Ko singing breathily about the end of love over mellow, rollicking beats, the song is an ambient ode to the hardships associated with romance. It also features scenes from the short film of the same name, as “Zero One” serves as its soundtrack. Directed by and starring Korean-American Nick Neon, the Zero One film is a sequel to 2016’s award-winning Ultra Bleu. Like its predecessor, the new short continues to explore the story of a gay man finding his place in the world, inspired by Neon’s own life.

Tamar Herman (Billboard)

The MV and the song both offer very poignant commentary on this sense of emotional limbo, this loss of anything real and personal. With “Zero One,” both Neon and Love X Stereo open viewers up, force a sort of vulnerability in us to ask and ultimately attempt to answer the question of what we really want and what we are really willing to give up (or gain) to get it.

Cy (Rock 'N Seoul)

The song “Zero One” opens with mellow moving synth-pop ambience. The track is instantly moving. Crisp percussion creates a strong beat. A deep electro bass resonates. You could easily close your eyes and get completely lost in this track. Annie enters singing, “Love is dead. It’s over. You can’t see anything. Love is dead. It’s over. You can’t feel anything. " The lyrics paint the deeply emotional story of young love and loss.

Bryon Harris (Indie Spoonful)

Out of the darkness of Love X Stereo’s new video, lead singer Annie Ko emerges and brings somber reality to the pain of love lost. “Love is dead,” she begins, and her compliant look seems to agree. The signature electro rock beat of Ko and Toby Hwang doesn’t bode well for a resurrection either. But that’s not how Ko thinks, and neither does Zero One, which is the official sound track to the short film of the same name. Love once lost, will eventually be found again,” said the South Korean based singer.

Rich Monetti (Vocal Media)

Michael “The Sizzler” Jacobs (JRL Charts)

Love is dead, it's over, you can't feel anything. Once those first few words of the track sink in, you'll want nothing more than to shut the whole world out and bask in the essence of this deeply moving song till it has completely healed you and you can love unconditionally again.
