Musician Annie Ko of LOVE X STEREO worked as a translator for Humane Society International in South Korea. During that time she discovered horrors of the dog meat industry. On one visit to a dog meat farm, she met and rescued DeeJay and their lives changed forever.

We are working tirelessly to fight the dog meat trade across Asia but change only manifests when it comes from within the hearts and minds of locals like Annie. The majority of South Koreans are against the dog meat industry and with their support and activism, the end to this trade is in sight.

Together, we can and are making a difference for animals in Asia! ❤

We’d like to explain the situation to our fans overseas. Here’s the gist.

Due to Covid-19, not only artists, but our live clubs are struggling all around the world, and this is not new. Recently, government officials of Mapo-gu Office barged in couple of Hongdae live clubs in the middle of live shows and shut down these venues without giving out enough guidance, even though the clubs were heavily under control of Covid safety protocols and there were no spreads because of this. This is also not new.

What is new is, that one of the officials said that [concerts are supposed to be held at big live halls, not at small live clubs that are only registered as ‘restaurants’, which might have been okay to host senior citizen’s 70th birthday parties in the old days, but definitely not acceptable post-Covid.] The official officially compared a live club show as a ‘칠순잔치(70th birthday)’. This is something new. It shows that these officials’ lack of understanding of independent music scene is prevalent, even though they may have been praising K-pop ever so often.

To be honest, we haven’t done club shows in a while, and we miss playing. But we’re all afraid that once this is all over, we might not have venues to go back to perform. The situation is devastating. Therefore, we are demanding an official apology from the Head of Mapo-gu Office, and we are demanding a better solution to save our live clubs that are the heart and soul of Korean independent music.

Throughout my whole life, I always felt insecure about my physique. When i was a young aspiring singer, I was suggested to get plastic surgery ALL THE TIME, but I 'bravely' refused, because I 'naively' thought music had nothing to do with looks. But boy - girl, I was wrong...
Now, living in the land of K-pop, and as a female artist surviving social media, I feel never more than ever, that this toxic influencer culture clearly has become something that everyone constantly has to deal with every single day - and it's really unfair to young girls.
Everytime I get down by this, I try to focus on music and music only, and you can say MUSIC HAS SAVED ME. Writing songs that you believe in is quite a magical/liberating thing. Life is too short to pay attention to people who are against you.
JUST DO WHAT YOU GOTTA DO.
